Company History

Meeting the Challenge, Inc. (MTC) is a national information services consulting firm that serves individuals and organizations with rights and responsibilities for compliance under federal disability laws. MTC has the broad-based knowledge, resources, and affiliate network to provide clients with solutions to solve their disability law compliance challenges and increase access for people with disabilities.

Since its incorporation in 1989, MTC has been committed to equal access for people with disabilities. MTC executives have been members of standard setting committees, since the inception of the Americans with Disabilities Act, including:

• ADAAG Review Advisory Committee
• Electronic and Information Technology Access Advisory Committee
• Recreation Access Advisory Committee

MTC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of CP&Y, Inc., an innovative and progressive full-service architectural and engineering consulting firm. With a staff of professionals in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Virginia, and Arkansas; CP&Y receives industry recognition by providing a full-range of services that always consider cost-effective solutions without sacrificing quality.

The combination of MTC and CP&Y brings together a broader suite of accessibility services to MTC clients and provides MTC direct access to CP&Y’s deep pool of industry experts, and resources.

Rocky Mountain ADA Center

The Rocky Mountain ADA Center (RMADAC) serves Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming.  RMADAC provides information, guidance, and training on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) tailored to meet the needs of individuals and organizations in our region. The RMADAC is operated by Meeting the Challenge, Inc, a for-profit disability compliance consulting firm located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. RMADAC is a member of the ADA National Network and is actively involved with national projects. Through these efforts, RMADAC helps individuals, institutions and businesses understand their rights and responsibilities under the ADA, and supports full implementation of the ADA.

Our Staff

Our staff members are our greatest asset, and we are extremely proud of each of them. Whether they are part of our management team, one of the accessibility experts, or working on the administrative staff, each is a key part of Meeting The Challenge. Each individual brings special skills and experience to the team, and they will do the same on your project!
Kent Kelley

Kent Kelley

President/Chief Operating Officer

Kent was promoted to the role of MTC president, in October 2014, and also acts as Chief Operating Officer. He initially joined MTC in January of 2010, as Director of Consulting Services. Kent also serves as the project manager for several of the company’s larger consulting projects, with responsibility for strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting, contract management, accounting, financial analysis, and overall operations.
Ken Heldt

Director of Operations/Database Manager

Ken is responsible for the strategic oversight of all consulting projects, ensuring that MTC operates within the company’s mission statement, while providing the best working environment and operational processes for the entire staff. He has been with MTC and the Rocky Mountain ADA Center since early 2013. Ken also heads up the maintenance and upgrading of the MTC proprietary tool suite, which includes the software for Data Collection, Data Maintenance, Data Analysis, and Data Reporting.
Ryan Kelley

Ryan Kelley

Project Manager/Accessibility Expert

Ryan provides his ADA accessibility expertise to long-term projects, with the responsibilities of managing entire city, county, and state Project Civic Access assignments. His specialties include overall project management, customer service and communications, staff budgeting and supervision, and accomplishing project objectives through planning and evaluating project activities. Ryan joined the MTC team after working several years as a project manager for a large retrofit construction firm.

Executive Consultant/Implementation Expert

Geoff Ames is a subject matter expert, but he says, “My only real skill is imagination.” Though he’s been part of MTC since 2002, he comes to work each day with a newcomer’s enthusiasm. Everything he does at MTC is infused with his will to make the world accessible for everyone and to change the world around him.
Glenn Staton

Glenn Staton

Senior Project Consultant/Accessibility Expert

Glenn provides his ADA accessibility expertise to outdoor and recreation accessibility, which includes National Parks, the U.S. Forest Service, the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service, as well as city parks and playgrounds. He has been with MTC since 2011 performing comprehensive accessibility assessments, developing implementation plans, providing resource sensitive accessibility recommendations, and helping modify, reorganize, and redesign park programs and facilities, to meet ADA, ABA, and Section 504 accessibility standards.
Philip Williams

Senior Project Consultant/Accessibility Expert

Philip provides his ADA accessibility expertise to architectural plan reviews, facility surveys, field data collection supervision, data analysis, data reporting, and quality control, for a variety of MTC consulting projects. His specialty, however, is the enjoyment of assisting various entities, in understanding their responsibilities as required by the ADA, and providing information and technical assistance to the clients of the Rocky Mountain ADA Center.

David joined the MTC Team in the spring of 2017, as a Field Supervisor, to assist with on-site data collection projects, utilizing the MTC proprietary software for data collection and data analysis, while helping to establish and provide direct linkages between ADA compliance findings and recommendations. Shortly after he completed his Field Supervisor training, he was promoted to a Project Consultant who also supervises on-site data collection teams in the field.

After cultivating his ADA skills and talents, he was  promoted to a Project Consultant who also supervises on-site data collection teams in the field.

Maggie Sims

Maggie Sims

Senior Project Consultant/ADA Information Specialist

As a seasoned expert on the ADA, Maggie has worked at MTC for the past 25 years. She currently is responsible for managing the ADA Center and Leadership Network. Maggie is also tasked with completing ADA self-evaluation projects, editing the electronic and print newsletter, “Rocky Mountain Access,” and providing exceptional information, informal guidance, and technical assistance to the clients of MTC and the Rocky Mountain ADA Center.

ADA Information Specialist/Accessibility Expert

Paul brought his ADA accessibility expertise to MTC during February of 2015. He provides expert training, information, informal guidance, and technical assistance to the clients of MTC and the Rocky Mountain ADA Center. Paul was previously a talented instructor at Gallaudet University. He now specializes in ADA Effective Communication and self-evaluation projects.

ADA Information Specialist/Accessibility Expert

Chris joined the MTC Team in the spring of 2017, as an ADA Information Specialist, providing information and informal guidance to the clients of the Rocky Mountain ADA Center. He is a three-time Summer Olympics gold medal winner, whose passion is assisting the many clients who call our ADA Center for technical assistance, ADA materials, and real-time information.
Joyce Wells

Head of Finance/Bookkeeper

Joyce joined the MTC Team after working over 20 years in accounting and business operations roles. She uses her previous experience in payroll, billing, and grant funding, as the Head of Finance for both Meeting the Challenge and the Rocky Mountain ADA Center.

Gary Cooper was an American film actor known for his natural, authentic, and understated acting style and screen performances. His career spanned thirty-six years, from 1925 to 1961, and included leading roles in eighty-four feature films.
